Last week, Kelsea Ballerini made history as the first female since Carrie Underwood (“Jesus Take the Wheel”) to top the country radio charts with a debut single (“Love Me Like You Mean It”). This week, the woman Kelsea joined as the only two in recent history to accomplish this feat bested the rest of the industry with her current single “Little Toy Guns.” This also marks the second week in a row that females have topped the country radio charts — different females.
Taking a leap over Blake Shelton‘s sultry “Sangria,” the emotionally powerful “Little Toy Guns” (Carrie Underwood, Chris DeStefano, Hillary Lindsey) jumped from Number 3 to Number 1, giving Carrie her another chart-topping single. An appreciative Carrie hit Twitter to thank those at radio for playing the song that has touched so many and the fans for continuing to make their requests.
I want to give a HUGE thank you to Country Radio this morning for making "Little Toy Guns" #1! You've always supported me & I'm so grateful!

I also want to thank all the beautiful people who called, requested and continue to show us love time and time again! You guys are amazing!

Congratulations to Carrie on another hit track! It brings us great joy to see the country music females thriving during a time laden with airplay adversity.
