With all that Blake Shelton has done in his career so far, it’s hard to believe that NASCAR hasn’t yet given him the green flag to serenade its crowd. Well, that is until now, anyway.

The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series opens this weekend, and Blake will make his debut at the big race on Sunday, July 5th, at Daytona International Speedway before the Coke Zero 400. On the schedule to be performed is the title track off Blake’s most recent album, Bringing Back the Sunshine.

Blake shared his excitement regarding his participation in the NASCAR opener in a statement:

I’m so pumped that my song, “Bringing Back the Sunshine,” is going to be the kickoff to NBC’s coverage of NASCAR this season. Over the years, I’ve met some drivers and have become friends with them, and before you know it, I have this interwoven relationship with NASCAR — and I love it.

Fans of one of country music’s most beloved artists can see his performance before the television broadcast on NASCARonNBC’s Facebook and Twitter.

Hmmm … Could this possibly be the next single in Blake’s repertoire, considering “Sangria” is in the running to hit Number 1 in the near future? We shall soon find out!
