NBC‘s acclaimed competition singing show, The Voice, bid farewell to its eighth season last night, ultimately crowning Team Pharrell’s Sawyer Fredericks as the winner. However, prior to the big announcement, former Big Machine Label Group recording artist Meghan Linsey took the stage as the lone remaining member of Team Blake [Shelton] to make sure the world knew that, despite the outcome, nothing would break her spirit.

Procuring an assist from one of the strongest vocalists in music history, Meghan collaborated with the “Invincible” singer who is no stranger to the competitive reality television world. The first American Idol winner, Kelly Clarkson (who also happens to be extremely close friends with Blake Shelton), took the stage side-by-side with the bluesy The Voice contender and performed the first duet of her new single.

With lyrics that could be said to aptly describe Meghan’s musical past and recent evolution, the timeless beauty freed her mic from its stand and belted to the audience:

Now I am a warrior, a shooting star, I know I got this far, I had a broken heart. No one hears the silent tears collecting. ‘Cause it’s being weak, but strong in the truth I found, I have courage now, gonna shout it out.

Regardless of who walked away the champion last night, Meghan’s performance with Kelly proved that she, too, is a winner. Though many questioned her intentions of joining the show’s cast this season, the answer impliedly emerged with her newfound sense of confidence as she lost herself in the lyrics to a song about finding one’s self after devastation.
Congratulations to Meghan Linsey on her beautiful journey on NBC’s The Voice. May this be only the first chapter in your new book.
