Who better to get advice from for how to audition for a reality singing competition than your own dad?! That’s exactly what might happen for Keith Urban‘s daughter, Sunday Rose.
Taste Of Country reports: Nicole Kidman revealed the couple’s daughter has expressed her desire to compete on The Voice Kids in Australia. And while Keith was gung ho for the idea, Nicole? Not so much.
“I’d be devastated if they didn’t get through,” she admits.
Keith’s response? Much more neutral. “You’ve got to expose them to the real things in life,” he says.
Nicole isn’t taking any chances on her baby girl getting hurt and already started prepping her for rejection: “I’m just like, ‘But baby, what if the chair didn’t turn around?’” she says. “And she’s like, ‘I’d be fine.’ But she wouldn’t,” the worried mother frets. “You want to protect them, but have them follow their dreams.”
Keith’s advice does come from personal experience though. Not just with his gig at American Idol, but as a contestant on those type of shows in his early days.
“When I was nine years old I went on a show called Pot of Gold. Then there was another show called Have a Go Show. There was another show called Stairway to the Stars,” he recalls. “For whatever reason my parents thought these shows were a good place for me to go to maybe not only hopefully get a leg up career-wise, but also get some advice and feedback, which I certainly did. Some of it’s pretty scathing. So I know what it’s like to be humiliated in front of everybody on TV.”
We would definitely be excited to see her on the show!
