Dolly Parton’s “Coat of Many Colors” to be turned into a movie

Earlier this year, it was announced that Dolly Parton had teamed up with NBC and would be bringing movies to the small screen that were based on some of her songs.

Now the first of those movies has been greenlit.

Coat of Many Colors, Dolly’s self-professed favorite song she’s ever written, is the first song to get the T.V. movie treatment in her new deal with NBC. According to Deadline, the movie will be based on Parton’s humble upbringing and will have Dolly executive producing.

According to the original deal announcement back in January, the group of movies based on Dolly’s songs will feature music but won’t be musicals.

No word on when fans can expect to see Coat of Many Colors pop up on their televisions.

What do you think should be the next Dolly song to be turned into a T.V. movie?
