Katie Armiger was one of many artists on the red carpet at the inaugural American Country Countdown Awards Mon. (Dec. 20). Sizzling in a gold-speckled dress, with her vibrant red hair just so, the singer caught up with NashvilleGab about her plucky new single "One Night Between Friends" and what it was like to record in the iconic Abbey Road Studios earlier this year. "I really like it because it's fun. It's lighthearted. It's really relatable. I think everybody's had a friend that they want to be more than friends with," she shared of the new single.
During her first-ever headlining tour in Europe and the UK, Armiger laid down some tracks in London's Abbey Road Studios (most closely associated with the Beatles). "It was life-changing," she said. "Being in that studio and knowning who has been in there and the impact that it had, it was incredible. Hopefully, we can take a part of that and put it on the new album."
While the LP is still in its early stages, she hopes to hit it into high gear in January. "We just started working on it. I'm going to start really getting into it the beginning of 2015 when I get back into Nashville. I'm looking forward to that."
During the ACCAwards, Reba McEntire received the first-ever Icon Award. Armiger shared her thoughts on what makes an icon: "I would say somebody that changes the format and changes things up. [Reba] is such an iconic female; she really paved the way and open the door for other artists. That's someone to idolize and look up to."
