A lot has happened since Brooks & Dunn called it quits back in 2009. There was a midlife crisis, Ronnie laughed at fans hoping for a B&D reunion, the boys had a Facebook fight, Kix cleared the air about their Facebook fight, and then Ronnie went and got a record deal with Nash Icon recently. On top of all that, there were the persistent rumors that Ronnie and Kix didn't care much for each other.
But alas there's been a Christmas miracle! And it's all thanks to Reba.
As you've probably heard by now, it was announced a week or two ago that Reba is going to be joined for a Vegas residency by her old pals Brooks&Dunn. And it turns out Reba is to thank because she acted as a referee to the allegedly bickering boys.
"We needed a good referee," Brooks laughs. "[Reba] makes us both behave. It really is a great way for Ronnie and I to get back together. I think it's been a great break for both of us."
In reality, the boys say they never hated each other and were just ready for a break when they called it quits. Broadway spoke to Kix back in 2012 and he explained their relationship dynamic clear back then.
"We don't NOT like each other, we're just having fun," Brooks said in the interview that can be heard below. He also went on to tell Broadway that the original plan for the duo was to record one record together and then move on to their solo careers and that being together for 20 years was definitely never part of their original plan.
In any case, it's good to see them coming back together even if it's only for a few shows.
