Joe Nichols had a surprise visitor at his show on Saturday

Joe Nichols and Randy Travis

It was an extra special night for Joe Nichols when country music legend Randy Travis paid an unexpected visit to his show last Saturday (Nov. 22) at Billy Bob’s Texas in Ft. Worth.

Travis even treated Nichols and family to some good ole’ Texas BBQ. In return, Nichols honored his musical hero with a solo acoustic performance of Travis’ hit “Promises,” a song Nichols performed for the first time ever as Travis watched from side stage.

Last year, Nichols was handpicked by Travis to record the duet “Tonight I’m Playin' Possum,” a tribute to pair’s country music idol, the legendary George Jones, featured on Travis’ 2013 album release, INFLUENCE VOL. 1: THE MAN I AM.
