North Carolina native Chris Lane is bringing a fresh sound to country music. You could say he is a little rock, a little pop and a whole lot of country. His fan base continues to grow and his name is catching fire all over the U.S. He recently released his first single “Broken Windshield View” which will be on his upcoming EP album via Big Loud Mountain. You can also catch Chris on the Get Your Buzz Back Tour with Jarrod Neimann.
1. At what age did you realize you wanted to pursue music?
Towards the end of my baseball career at UNCC. I realized how much fun I was having playing guitar, singing and entertaining my friends. After that, everything else just kind of fell together.
2. Out of all the songs you’ve written, do you have a favorite?
I’m really excited for fans to hear “Drinking Games,” a song I co-wrote for my debut EP that will be coming soon.
3. Do you have a favorite place to perform?
Every night is fun for me, especially when the crowd is rowdy and loud. There have been a few venues that stick out like playing Turner Field(Atlanta Braves), The House Of Blues in Boston and some of the ballparks on the last Florida Georgia Line/Nelly tour that I was on.
4. If you could duet with any female artist, who would you pick & why?
Can I pick more than one? I love Taylor Swift for her creativity, Carrie Underwood for her amazing voice, Miranda Lambert for her intensity and Sarah Buxton cause she is an awesome writer and has such an incredible unique voice!
5. What artists influenced you growing up?
Now that could be a long list. Everyone from Garth to Nelly. I grew up loving country and in high school I got into a little hip-hop but my first love is country music. A Keith Urban concert is what made me say “Wow, I want to do THAT for a living.” His live show just gave me a passion to want to perform.
6. What’s one item you couldn’t live without?
My bible, it has something for every emotion and it’s a great guide to life.
7. If your life was a movie, what would the title be?
This might be cheesy…but Living A Dream. I am truly living out my dream right now.
8. Besides singing/songwriting is there anything else you’re really good at? Any hobbies?
I still have a little baseball and football skill left in the tank. We try to play in leagues here in Nashville when we can. We also keep a football on the road and a lot of games tend to break out.
9. What can fans expect from you going forward? Any new projects you’re working on?
Oh yes, I am finishing my debut EP now, so another single will follow “Broken Windshield View.” The sound on my record will offer a lot of variety. Joey Moi, my producer, is a wizard in the studio.
10. What would you want the world to know about Chris Lane?
That I am truly thankful for being able to do what I do. I hope people can see that I am genuinely grateful for fans and people who buy my songs, tshirts, come to my shows or just simply take the time to listen to the music I am putting out there. I couldn’t do it without them and I won’t forget that! Now, come to a show and let’s have a party.
