Country Music’s “Goodbye” to Taylor Swift?

In case you were living under a rock, in a cave, your wifi was out, or any other crazy incident that could've happened to hinder you from receiving the news that Taylor Swift announced her official arrival into the Pop realm with a new album called 1989, a new single called Shake It Off AND a new video, I figured I'd make sure you were in the know. Taylor came in with a huge bang taking the # 1 spot on iTunes within just hours.  In the midst of all the excitement, the Country Music Association had this bittersweet tweet floating around (that is no longer on their twitter?)

This move to the pop world many argue was inevitable. But for a global superstar like Swift, this transition was not as seamless as many think. There was a huge risk in doing this genre swapping and only few have successfully done this, including the great Patsy Cline. Well…if this song is ANY indication, I feel Taylor will soon be wearing the crown that only a Queen of Pop can wear. Her new sound is very Madonna meets Britney Spears in the best way.

While Taylor has come to grips with this transition, it will be interesting to see if country music will really let go…fair warning, I will probably still find a reason to write about her.

You can buy Shake It Off on iTunes now and don't forget to check out the video HERE
