Joe Nichols doesn’t miss a beat despite undergoing back surgery

Joe Nichols

Holy smokes. Talk about dedication!

Joe Nichols has kept up a busy tour schedule and hasn't missed a single date despite revealing that he recently underwent back surgery.

Joe tells The Country Vibe that back at the end of June he had back surgery for an injury in the lower part of his back caused by lots of long distance running. Doctors had to cut away some bone from one of his vertebra and also removed some ligaments.

Yikes!

He says the doctor wanted him to take at least two weeks off, but Joe wasn't having any of it. He told the doctor, “I gotta work. I gotta go back to work on Friday. I have babies to feed. I can’t just not do anything for two weeks.”

Joe says the doctor told him that he highly advised him not to do that. “I told him, ‘The show’s gotta go on. I highly advise myself to do it. I’ll be in pain, but it’ll be worth it, because like I said, I’ve got babies to feed,’” Joe said.

Joe defied the doctors orders and without missing a beat was back on stage just four days after surgery. He tells The Country Vibe that he doesn't feel the surgery has hurt his performance and he doesn't think fans can even tell that he's still in a bit of pain. The only thing that bothers him is that he's unable to lift his kids and he's afraid he's hurting his daughter Dylan's feelings.

Awww.
