After canceling his Friday night autograph session due to accidentally cutting his left hand with a kitchen knife Thursday night, Chris Young ended up undergoing surgery in Nashville to repair damaged tendons. Unfortunately that meant that he also had to cancel his performance at LP Field Saturday night during CMA Music Fest.
Fortunately, Chris sounds like he’s doing well in spite of it all, but will be stuck in a cast for a while. His mom, Beck, gave an update to fans yesterday (via Taste of Country):
Chris is resting. He has passed the “keep it elevated for 48 hours” mark and can still move his fingers. They are all still looking good color wise. He will be in a soft caste for another two weeks, then in a hard caste for the next 4 after that (so 6 weeks total). I am not sure how long the stitches stay in – there are a LOT of them. His surgeon did a great job on the second surgery, and obviously we can’t see the repair work due to the caste.
Thank you again for all the prayers, etc. We are still hoping he’ll be on the road later this week – so keep those prayers coming! I love all of you, but please understand that I cannot continue to answer all the private messages….there are too many of them.
Chris’ latest single, “Who I Am With You,” from his recently released album A.M., is climbing the country radio charts as Young hits the road with Dierks Bentley on the RISER TOUR.
