Meet this week’s #FeaturedFriday artist: Palmer Lee

Palmer LeeFacebook

Many of you may remember back in 2012 when I featured an awesome cover of the Pistol Annies Hell on Heels by a trio of talented young ladies. Skip ahead nearly two years and now one of those gals is this week's NashvilleGab #FeaturedFriday artist.

Palmer Lee is a 21-year-old singer/songwriter living in Nashville, TN. Originally from Rogers, Arkansas, Palmer is most well-known for her participation in country duo 3rd & Union with partner Chase Coy. Their debut full-length album released in November of 2012 and saw quick success, finding a spot on the Country iTunes chart, and the duo was even featured in an article by the nationally acclaimed Washington Post a couple of months after the release. Almost a year later, Palmer Lee released a self-titled debut solo EP that rose to #30 on the iTunes country chart and was featured on the front of the Country iTunes page as “New and Noteworthy.”

Palmer has had a great last few months and has been doing a ton of writing. She released a new EP last and co-writes lately.  She's got a video of one of the songs off her EP, Until Now, that was released in September. Check out the official video for That's Fine here.

Now let's meet Palmer in her own words.

Introduce yourself – where are you from, when did you first start performing, who got you started, etc.

My name is Palmer Lee, and I am a 21-year-old Country singer/songwriter from Rogers, AR. I have been playing music since early elementary school and performed at every talent show and regional fair in NW Arkansas growing up. I currently live in Nashville, TN and attend Belmont University where I study Commercial Music and Music Business.

I have been a part of country duo with Chase Coy 3rd & Union since 2012, and we released a full-length album. It was a blast. More recently, I have been working on my solo music and released an EP in September 2013.

Who has been your biggest musical influence?

I’ve been following Miranda Lambert since I was twelve years old. I remember playing “Me and Charlie Talking” at the 6th grade talent show. I still love Miranda, and some of my other influences are Nickel Creek, Lady Antebellum, Patty Griffin, Lee Ann Womack and Patsy Cline.

What’s the weirdest song on your iPod currently?

The weirdest music on my iPod is probably the Hairspray soundtrack. I always cringe when one of the songs comes on shuffle when I’m with my friends. But I love that soundtrack too much to take it off my iPod 

What goals do you have for the future?

I just want to be able to continue to write and perform music that I like. I really like the songs I’ve been writing lately, and I hope I keep getting to play shows and release music. Ultimately, I want to be a signed country artist and play music full-time.

If you could tour with anyone who would it be?

Probably Lady A and Kacey Musgraves.. I wish the Wreckers were still together—I was obsessed for a while, and probably still am. I’d love to tour with them.

If you weren't singing, what would you be doing?

I can’t imagine a life without music. I honestly have no idea what I would be doing if I was not able to be creative and make music.

Do you write music or just sing?

Yes I write! I love it. I’ve been writing a ton lately.

Who would be your dream duet?

Alison Krauss. I think she is so talented.

Are you signed to a label and can fans purchase your music?

I am not signed to a label, but I definitely have music to purchase!!

I released a solo EP in September 2013: https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/until-now-ep/id711736071
