The White House once hoped to “neutralize” Johnny Cash

Neutralize. Now there's an odd choice of words. 

Retronaut recently posted this letter from President Nixon friend and campaign manager, Murray Chotiner, to Nixon's Chief of Staff, H.R. Haldeman, regarding Johnny Cash who was getting ready to pay a visit to The White House. 

The fact that they wanted the President of the United States to "neutralize" Johnny Cash is kind of entertaining.
