Trace Adkins enters rehab after fight on board cruise ship

Well this story went from funny to sad in no time flat.

TMZ is reporting that Trace Adkins got into a tussle of some sort on Monday with a Trace Adkins impersonator in a bar on a cruise ship headed to Jamaica. 

Have to say I chuckled a bit when I imagined a big ol' Trace fighting a Trace look-a-like on a cruise ship out in the middle of the ocean.

Unfortunately, the story goes on to say that Trace, a long-sober, recovering alcoholic, was "really wasted" during the fight and ended up leaving the cruise ship when it docked in Jamaica and is now in rehab. 

Annnnd now I'm sad. 

Country Weekly has confirmed that the singer has checked himself into rehab. His spokesperson told the magazine on Wednesday, January 15, “Trace has entered a treatment facility after a setback in his battle with alcoholism. As he faces these issues head-on, we ask that his family’s privacy will be respected.”

This isn't Trace's first trip to rehab. The singer spent time in a rehab facility back in 2002 after pleading guilty to a DUI in 2001.

Wow. Best wishes going out to Trace and his family in this tough time.  

Trace was on the cruise ship as part of the star-packed Country Cruising 2014 cruise. Other stars who had set sail with Adkins included Montgomery Gentry, Wynonna, Neal McCoy, Maggie Rose, and many others. 

UPDATE: I'm hearing that Trace was kicked off the cruise rather than leaving voluntarily. More details to come …
