Songwriter of Keith Urban’s “Cop Car” Not Pleased With His Grammy Performance

Sam Hunt 1

Sam Hunt is becoming one of Nashville's most popular songwriters. He currently has two song's being played on radio stations all over the world, Billy Currington's "We Are Tonight" and Keith Urban's "Cop Car." His style is authentic and his ability to write songs and tell a story is undeniable. He took to twitter after Keith Urban's performance of "Cop Car" on the Grammy's and he wasn't too happy.

@SamHuntMusic I worked hard on "Cop Car." Everything I poured into that song was stolen from me. I unfortunately can't celebrate it being on the Grammys.

I can't say I disagree with him. No disrespect to Keith Urban who is an amazing musician but he just didn't do the song justice. When I seen Sam live, his performance of "Cop Car" gave me chills. He just has a connection to that song that's powerful. I'm curious what it was about Keith's performance that upset him. Was it Keith's lack of emotion to the song? Was it Gary Clark Jr who forgot some the lyrics? It's probably safe to say it's a mixture of both.

Sams version is too mellow and slow for me. Keith brings a bit more drama, it builds up more and I loved the guitar duel with Gary Clark. I’m Not a massive fan of the song though.
Keith shouldve released “shes my 11”, which he wrote and is the most country song on his album. Its much better than this rnb country hybrid of a song. Sam should be grateful Keith picked his song. Keith will probably take that song to number one.

Yes, really dont like cop car , and dont like sam hunts version to slow, keith builds it up, and keeps it moving, keith will probably take it to #1 Sam Hunt should have more repect,
