Florida native Jimmy Stanley has a undeniable passion for songwriting, compelling vocals, and a fiery attitude to match. When he isn't busting his ass to write some amazing material, he is working at the legendary Bluebird Cafe.
Jimmy Stanley is a cast member on A&E's new reality tv show titled Crazy Hearts: Nashville. The series takes viewers into the life of up and coming musicians struggling to make it big. Although the world may have seen a glimpse of Jimmy's ability to write and sing music, I knew there was so much more to him than what meets the eye.
1. At what age did you know that you wanted to pursue music?
I grew up on a farm listening to country music and started singing as early as I can remember. When I was a little kid I thought I was a country singer but it was in college that I really decided to pursue it as a career.
2. What artists did you listen to growing up?
My number one artist was George Strait. I'm a huge fan of 90's country music. Darryl Singletary, Wade Hayes, Paul Brandt….all those guys.
3. What artists do you currently listen to?
I like to support my other Florida boys so I'm a big fan of Jake Owen. I also really like Dierks Bentley and I'm loving Kacey Musgraves.
4. If you could duet with any female artists who would you pick?
Kacey Musgraves would be great but that might just be my crush talking, ha! Dolly Parton would be incredible.
5. What's your favorite thing about country music?
It's real life. It's just not sunflowers and rainbows, it's about heartache & despair and stuff we all go through.
6. What traits make up a great songwriter?
Experience I guess, like life experience not necessarily songwriting experience. So many of the great writers have actually lived their songs. Believability is crucial to country music, it has to be real.
7. Beer or whiskey?
Is that a serious question? Both. Beer when I'm working on my old Chevy, whiskey all the time.
8. If you could have one super power what would it be?
I'd like to be able to fly so I could go home and see my family more often.
9. What's new for you in the future? Any new projects?
Lots of big stuff in the works, can't say a whole lot just yet but got some exciting things around the corner.
10. What would you want the world to know about Jimmy Stanley?
Despite what people might think, I'm simple. I like cheap beer, my old truck and a sad song.
You can catch Crazy Hearts:Nashville Thursdays on A&E 10/9c.

Met the guy and he is a grade-A douche! There are literally hundreds of better singers in a 1 mile radius in Nashville than him that will never even get a nod. He needs to work on being a better person and singer.
