Sadly it looks like country music is getting ready to lose another great.
A little more than a year after announcing to fans that he had been receiving treatment for pancreatic cancer, it looks like Country Music Hall of Famer Ray Price's journey may be coming to an end.
Ray's son, Clifton, posted an update to the singer's Facebook on Saturday:
Dear Friends.
My Dad is very sick. He is in the East Texas Medical Center At Tyler, Texas. He has been in intensive care. He was admitted on Monday. I got to visit for a brief moment on the 22 of November at the ranch. I was invited back by my Father the next day but the gate was locked. My Dad is in final stages of pancreatic cancer and the general opinion is that he will not be going home. When I saw him the cancer seemed to have taken his strength away. Its very sad that Cancer is going to take his life and that there is no cure.
God Bless everyone for their prayers.
Clifton Ray Price (son)
Earlier this year, it was reported that Price's cancer had gone into remission but that the singer had decided not to go through with any more surgeries that would force him into a nursing home.
My heart goes out to Price's family.

Clifton, I just wanted to take a moment and express mine and my band’s sincerest condolences, and prayers for Ray. My mother, (now deceased) dearly loved your Dad’s music, and I learned several of his songs as a child, because of that reason. We (my band and I), occasionally do a “Ray” song for the crowds and they love them, and often request one.
I had the pleasure, and honor, of meeting him only once while living in Nashville, and he was so humble, and appreciative, of the fact that I even knew who he was. He is a true gentleman, and one of, if not, the greatest vocalist / stylist that I have ever heard, or had the pleasure and honor of meeting.
God speed, Prayers, and wishing all of you the best, as you face this in your lives.

I am praying for Mr. Price and his family. Love his songs and will always listen to them. I had the pleasure of seeing him in Omaha, Nebraska at Peoney Park (which is no longer there). Actually got to talk to him face to face as he was walking from his bus to the building. It was a day I will always remember. God bless you all.
