Phoenix Stone “When The Whiskey Doesn’t Work” Review

Founding member of The Backstreet Boys is back in action with his new song When The Whiskey Doesn't Work. Phoenix Stone is anything but ordinary. He is in his own lane, unique. His previous single, "100 Proof Moonshine" which was written and produced by Stone, peaked at the #1 spot on the New & Active Charts and Billboard Top 50. Currently, his YouTube channel has over 3 million hits. Phoenix played two sell out shows this summer at the well known CMA Music Fest, which is a huge deal.

When The Whiskey Doesn't Work is a slow track, a ballad. Phoenix gives listeners an idea of what heartache is like for a bad boy, a outlaw. It has a southern sound of perfection in every word. The hook reminds me of 90's country, which I value. The song is extremely well written and Stone's voice is spot on. I think the song has a good way of explaining how we all have that one thing we run to when we are dealing with heartache, sadness or misery. Sadly, our go to fixer upper doesn't always work. For once, I have to say it's nice to see a man sing about real life struggles instead of singing about tractors, trucks and tailgates. Phoenix had me hanging on to every word, waiting to see how the song played out. From his endearing looks to his amazing song writing abilities, Phoenix is the total package. However, I would like to offer a piece of advice to Mr. Stone. If the whiskey isn't working for you, maybe you just need to increase your dosage. Just a suggestion.
