Contrary to popular belief, the craziest thing that happened at this year's MTV VMAs wasn't actually Miley Cyrus grinding up on Robin Thicke's Beetlejuice-inspired striped suit. Seriously, we all figured she was going to go full stripper soon enough anyway.
Nope, in my book the funnest point in the evening was Taylor Swift sassily being caught saying STFU while her ex – the goofy looking, long-haired boy-bander Harry Styles – was up on stage announcing the Best Pop Video nominees and winner.
That was the best point in the night in my book.
Unfortunately, Taylor's male BFF, Ed Sheeran, had to go and ruin all the fun.
At a recent press conference, Sheeran revealed that Taylor told him the truth about the moment. She did actually say what we thought she said, but the snarky comment came about because right before the camera panned to them, Selena Gomez, who was sitting next to Taylor, said that she thought Miley Cyrus was going to win the award and not herself. That's when Taylor playfully told her to "Shut the f*ck up."
So it was a sign of support and not a diss to an ex, which sort of makes the whole incident kind of boring since it's funner to think of Taylor as bitter and bitchy.
