Craig Morgan talks politics of awards shows

I asked Craig Morgan, who sits on the ACM board, what exactly people mean when they says awards shows are all politics.  Clearly something is going on after yesterday’s nominees for the CMA’s were announced with no mention of Kenny Chesney, Brad Paisley, Rascal Flatts, Hunter Hayes, Jake Owen, the list goes on!

“I don’t know. I’m on the ACM board myself. I don’t really think about it a whole lot. I don’t worry about it. It’s not something that impacts my world so much that…it doesn’t dictate whether or not I get to work. I think they’re great programs…great opportunity for us to acknowledge those in our industry. And if you’re not one of those that gets acknowledged it doesn’t mean that you’re not doing the right things or being successful. It’s just the way it is.”

I’m trying to get an insider on my show to shed some light on this. Stay tuned.

Here’s my entire interview with Craig (from 9/3).
