Last season, Blake Shelton had revealed that the best part of the finale of "The Voice" wasn't actually winning, it was the fact that Cher had taken part in the show.
“I lost my dad a year and a half ago, and my dad's favorite artist on Earth, bar none, no question, was Cher,” Shelton told TODAY.com at the time. “My dad worshiped Cher. I wish he could've seen tonight's episode because I would've been texting him saying, ‘I met Cher. I took a picture with her.' And I would've been giving him crap about it.
“That's what I love the most, is that I got a chance to meet Cher,” he continued. “She has no idea about any of that, but it was a real big deal to meet her. She's just as viable and important to music today as she ever was.”
Now Blake gets to fangirl it up on a regular basis because Cher has agreed to be the mentor for his team on the upcoming season of "The Voice" it was announced today.
Other mentors announced for this season include Ed Sheeran for Christina Aguilera's team, OneRepublic's Ryan Tedder for Adam Levine's team, and Miguel for Cee Lo's team.
Season 5 of "The Voice" premieres Monday, September 23.
