Deana Carter visited a bar recently because the band just happened to be playing her song. Then she just waited for the lead singer to notice. Thankfully the lead…
The Country Music Association unveiled the nominees for this year's 47th Annual CMA Awards, set for Nov. 6 live from Nashville's Bridgestone arena, on Tuesday (Sept. 10). Kacey Musgraves leads the pack with a whopping eight nominations (including producer credits for her stirring "Merry Go 'Round" and "Same Trailer Different Park" album). Taylor Swift quickly follows with an impressive seven nods, including for Album of the Year (a producer and artist credit for the multi-platinum "Red") and Single of the Year (for "Highway Don't Care" with Tim McGraw and Keith Urban).
Nashville Gab had a chance to attend Tuesday's live press event from Best Buy Theatre in New York City. The prestigious nominations were announced by smash hit-makers Florida Georgia Line and rocker Sheryl Crow. Also, Steve Wariner was on hand from the CMA offices in Music City to reveal the Broadcast finalist nominees.
Take a look at photos, a recap of the event and brief reactions to the nominations.
My radio friend Cricket Moss (Twitter:@cricketmoss) wrote a great review for Keith Urban's new album "Fuse," which hit stores today (iTunes/Amazon)
. She gave me permission to share so here you go. You can read more from Cricket on her own blog at Cricket's Frog Blog.
Guest review:
“Fuse” is Keith Urban’s first studio album in three years, and expectations were running high. So was curiosity, as it was revealed that Keith not only enlisted the assistance of producers he’d worked with before, like Dann Huff, but also some surprising choices, like Mike Elizondo (best known for working with Eminem) and Butch Walker (Pink, Avril Lavigne). He brought in EIGHT producers in all for this record! Coulda been a “cluster,” but, for the most part, it all “fuses” together quite nicely.
Somewhere in My Car Keith certainly has a lot of songs with references to cars and driving (Put You in a Song, Days Go By, etc.). The latest is a deceptively uptempo, bright-sounding song that’s actually about a breakup. He is bummed out about coming home to an empty apartment, wishing he could bring himself to take the pictures off the walls that only remind him of this girl that is gone. “I know you’re never coming back, But in my mind, we’re somewhere in my car…” A good song, but I’m not convinced that Keith is really the type of guy who’d live in the past and mope over some a broken relationship. Nor do I believe that any gal would be crazy enough to leave Keith Urban!
Now that's a nice-looking view. Oh, and the ocean is nice too. This lovely lady posted this photo to Facebook this morning saying: Morning walk to my favorite tunes, what…
Has Trace Adkins lost his record deal at Toby Keith's Show Dog-Universal record label?
NashvilleGab friend, Mary Kay, pointed out to me this morning that Trace Adkins was no longer listed on Show Dog-Universal's website. I headed over and sure enough his profile has went poof and is gone from their artist page. Currently they have Toby Keith, JT Hodges, Joel Crouse, Krystal Keith, Rose Falcon, Josh Thompson, and the Alabama & Friends CD listed on their artist page.
So where is Trace?
Honestly, I don't know. Heck, I didn't even know that he wasn't listed on Show Dog's site anymore, but I do know that nothing's been officially said about Trace possibly leaving the label.
Florida Georgia Line and Sheryl Crow were up bright and early this morning on Good Morning America to announce the 2013 CMA Nominees.

Here's the full list of nominees (I had a partial list up earlier):

Just look at that look on doomed comedian John Belushi's face in the classic pic above. Either that's all-consuming passion or Dolly Parton smelled like a tantalizing plate of donuts. …
