This April, Sugarland's Kristian Bush made a decision: it
was time to start sharing the music he was writing. "I've written over 50 songs
just this year," Bush says. "It's like I'm on a streak. The songs just keep
coming. And if you add these to everything from the past two decades, they might
never all be heard." He launched his 'Music Mondays' web series that week, and
has since released 12 tracks, both old and new, via KristianBush.com and his
social media feeds. [Hear the "mixtape" of his first eleven songs here.] "I love
writing songs, and I love how the right song at the right time can change
everything," adds Bush. "I'm always looking for new ways to connect these songs
with people who might need to hear them."
latest outreach comes via the brand-new lyric video for "You Can't Stop the Sun
From Going Down," the meditative acoustic ballad he co-wrote with Monty Powell.
The song has long been a live favorite, but now fans can share it, and sing
along at home.
Bush featured a rough demo of a song called "Burning Flowers." [Listen here.] In his blog post about the song's message, he
writes the following, a sentiment which fans have come to know as
quintessentially Kristian: "Don't give up on yourself. Don't give up on love.
Don't give up."
Bush continues his busy year this summer and fall with
select tour dates ranging from Lollapalooza — Kidzapalooza, to be exact! — to
the State Fair of Texas. He continues to be a frequent participant in the CMA
Songwriters Series, and will appear alongside Bob DiPiero, Matraca Berg, and
Bobby Pinson at Joe's Bar in Chicago Aug. 1. A complete list of tour dates and
lots more information on Kristian can be
