Kaitlin Boytek – West Virginia’s Finest

There is a small town tucked away in southern West Virginia, best known for the Hatfield & Mccoy feud. Logan, WV is also home to 22-year-old country music singer Kaitlin Boytek. Kaitlin is a mother and a wife to a underground coal miner. Just a girl in the coalfields with a dream, a big dream. Kaitlin entered a singing contest at the age of four and she won. Her mother says she was singing way before she could talk.  Kaitlin, who is from the same town as me, was more than happy to answer a few questions.

1. Who were your influences growing up?

My mom is my greatest influence. I grew up watching her sing and write songs. My whole life has always revolved around music and I love it.

2. What current artist do you listen to?

Wow! There are so many. I listen to singers from all types of music. The ones I listen to the most are Kenny Chesney, Tim Mcgraw, Christina Aguilera, Etta James, Ray Charles..and the list goes on.

3. What are you most proud of when it comes to your music?

My songwriting and the control I've learned to have over my voice is something I've worked very hard to achieve, so I'm very proud of that. I also love to connect with people through my music. When I can connect with someone through a song, to me thats the greatest accomplishment.

4. What projects are you currently working on?

My new single! YAY!  Also, writing more original songs and singing at more venues and events.

5. If you could open up for any artist who you pick?

Kenny!! Chesney, of course. Any other artist that would have me as an opening act.

6. Where do you see yourself in five years?

Signed! Successful! Which is achieving at least 90 percent of my goals. I also want to have learned all I can about the music industry. If I could I would love to send a HUGE thank you to all my fans and to Yellow Mama Music for all they've done for me!

The Miranda Lambert vs Christina Aguilera feud gets shut down before it gets good….killjoys

Remember back in the day when our only true social media was Maury Povich, Jerry Springer, or the Today Show? There was no DVR and most of us couldn’t program our VCRs so we’d gather around our TVs to check out the latest guests who were going to duke it out or at least give a severe verbal beatdown.

If we were lucky the guests were celebrities and we got to witness firsthand that celebs were just like us and got into arguments and fights just like “real people.”

Oh those were the days.
