It’s quite possible that Taylor Swift doesn’t read all her fan mail … hundreds of letters found in Nashville dumpster

So you’ve sent a fan letter to Taylor Swift. You’ve probably made it all pretty with hearts and glitter and lots of personality and put your heart and soul into it.

Now what?

Well if you were a few hundred unlucky fans recently, your fan letter ended up in a dumpster in Nashville.

Kylee Francescan was at a recycling place in Nashville when she came across hundreds of opened and unopened fan letters to Taylor Swift.

“I was like, ‘That’s weird,'” Kylee told Nashville’s News 2 Investigates. “There were like hundreds of letters in there to Taylor Swift and I’m like, ‘Oh my gosh!’ I didn’t know if they were stolen [or] discarded, so I threw them in a box. And I’m like, ‘Somebody needs to let Taylor know.'”

It was found that the mail came from a P.O. Box at a local strip mall. The owner of the mall told Nashville’s News 2 Investigates that someone from the Taylor’s staff picks up the mail periodically. When the news channel went to Taylor’s label, Big Machine Records, they explained, “Taylor gets thousands of fan letters everyday and they are delivered to her management office. After the letters are opened and read, they are recycled,” spokesperson Paula Erickson said.

She continued, “The only explanation for any letters being unopened would be that a small batch of mail that was supposed to be delivered to Taylor was accidentally put with letters headed for the recycling center. We sincerely appreciate Channel 2 bringing this to our attention, and we plan to immediately pick up the mail.”

So I guess the moral of the story is to go ahead and write your fan mail, but you might want to spend a little less time on the whole glitter and love you put into it since chances are it may just end up in a dumpster anyway.

Makes me kind of sad.
