LeAnn Rimes responds to X Factor criticism

LeAnn Rimes broke her silence earlier today after the rumor started going around last night and this morning that she may possibly have been a wee bit snockered at last night's "X Factor" finale when she dueted with 13-year-old Carly Rose Sonenclar.

The performance was definitely odd and it seemed that LeAnn might have forgotten the words and notes she was supposed to be singing at various times throughout the song.

Most of America probably just snickered a bit and then moved on to bigger and better things and would have forgotten about the whole story by now if it weren't for a pesky followup that's now popped up.

TMZ allegedly spoke with LeAnn's rep this morning who told them that LeAnn was "NOT impaired and if there was any awkwardness it was only because she was trying to help this 13-year-old girl who was having some trouble with the song."

She went on to say that "LeAnn was not performing the way she would normally perform, because she was on stage with a young girl."

Funny thing is, young girl or not, Carly was doing just fine on her own and things only got awkward once LeAnn hit the stage. From that point on, the looks Carly was giving the camera, the judges, and LeAnn, told the story of how at that moment in time she really, really seemed to want to be anywhere but on that stage performing with LeAnn  … and I don't think it had anything to do with her (Carly) having trouble with the song.

It was kind of uncomfortable to watch (video).

That aside, LeAnn took to her Twitter later after TMZ quoted her rep and basically called TMZ a big, fat liar. She said

"In my 18 years of performing, I have never been anything but professional onstage. It is a shame that gossip and lies are overshadowing the performance of Carly, a very talented young girl.

And while I have not given any media outlet a quote, if you want one, here it is “It was an amazing opportunity to share this experience with Carly and I know I’ll be watching for her to win tonight."

The sad thing is, if LeAnn had just laughed it off with a simple whatever and left it at that, this story would more than likely be dead and gone already. Why argue about it? Sometimes it really is better to let sleeping dogs lie and gossip fizzle away like it normally tends to do.

I can understand why LeAnn might want to clear her name, but this really is more drama than it needed to be. I'm sure you're so happy I brought the drama to you. Haha.

Kelsea Ballerini Pops a Top

Kelsea Ballerini’s debut single “Love Me Like You Mean It” became the first Number 1 debut by a solo female since 2006 earlier this week, and the industry is rejoicing over the tremendous feat by the twenty-one year old singer-songwriter. While Kelsea could simply pat herself on the back for a job well done, that kind of person is the antithesis of the latest chart-topper.
