‘American Idol’ hopes to lure Carrie Underwood to be a judge or whatever on the show

Carrie Underwood American Idol‘American Idol’ seems to be in some sort of free fall right now. Yesterday, the former reality show juggernaut failed to receive an Emmy nomination for Best Competition Reality ShowJennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler have both quit or been fired depending on what report you read, and the ratings have been lacking lately from my understanding.

So what’s a seemingly struggling former monster hit reality singing competition to do?

Hire one of your most popular competitors ever if possible.

Reportedly, the show has reached out to Carrie Underwood, Clay Aiken, Taylor Hicks, and Adam Lambert to possibly come back as judges or in some other sort of capacity.

“Idol is reaching out to try and gauge the interest of former contestants coming back on the show to participate in some way. They wouldn’t necessarily be in judging positions, but the show wants them involved.”

Carrie Underwood would definitely be a great choice, but I can’t imagine she’d take the job. Too bad Shania’s busy. She was great when she was on the show as a special guest.

Kelly Clarkson has spoken up about not wanting to be a judge but she thinks Carrie would be perfect. She tells Us Magazine:

“She would! Didn’t she major in journalism or something?” Clarkson said of the 29-year-old country singer. Indeed, Underwood did graduate from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Okla. in 2006 with a bachelor’s degree in mass communication with an emphasis in journalism. “And she can have that face . . . that bluff face! She can put that on! She would be good.”

I definitely think at least one former ‘American Idol’ contestant who has successfully made it post Idol would be a great addition. I mean, who better to help current contestants out than someone who has been through the stress of the show and succeeded in the real world?
