Supacell

A groundbreaking superhero series, Supacell is surely one of its kind. The show is based on the gritty and vibrant streets of South London.

It follows the lives of ordinary people who are suddenly gifted with supernatural powers, unlike the traditional superhero narratives. Directed by Rapman, the cast includes Nadine Mills, Tosin Cole, Digga D, and Josh Tedeku.

Arcane Season 2

Picking up right after where Season 1 ended, Arcane Season 2 didn’t disappoint with its intriguing theme and plot. The central characters, Vi, Jinx, Caitlyn, and others, are pulled into personal conflicts that blur the lines between right and wrong.

The voiceover cast, which includes Hailee Steinfeld, Ella Purnell, and Katie Leung, has once again breathed life into their respective characters. The power struggle between the privileged and oppressed classes becomes more apparent in the second series.

Girls5Eva

A hilarious and heartwarming comedy, Girls5Eva follows a 90s girl group. This group reunites for a second shot at popularity and stardom decades after their initial success.

The third season, with its lighthearted themes of friendship, ambition, and the baggage of reentering under the spotlight, stood out. The cast includes Paula Pell, Renee Elise Goldsberry, Busy Phillips, and Sara Bareilles.

Baby Reindeer

This series took the internet by storm, especially because it was based on real-life events that the main lead went through. Baby Reindeer follows an aspiring comedian who is stalked by a woman he served at a pub.

The series is a mix of dark comedy and emotional rollercoaster. With Richard Gadd taking the lead alongside Jessica Gunning, the one-series show was for sure a hit, earning four Emmys in 2024.

American Nightmare

The true crime series American Nightmare, from the producers of Tinder Swindler, is even more harrowing. The show follows the true story of Denise Huskins, who was kidnapped and endured a series of traumatic events.

The series is a sensitive one, with an on-spot retelling of the original case. American Nightmare is said to lack the sensationalism that other true crime shows on Netflix usually have.

Diplomat Season 2

With SAG, Emmy, and Golden Globe awards under its belt, the Diplomat once again wowed the viewers with the second season. This season solidified Diplomat’s place as one of the most intriguing and exciting thrillers on TV.

The star-studded cast includes Keri Russell, Rufus Sewell, Ali Ahn, David Gyasi, and Rory Kinnear. The second season follows Kate Wylor, played by Keri, as she defuses an international crisis.

Dead Boy Detectives

A spin-off of Netflix’s The Sandman, Dead Boy Detectives takes on the realm of the supernatural mystery arena. Two ghosts, played by George Rexstrew and Jayden Revri, choose to stay on Earth instead of going to the afterlife.

On Earth, they begin a brand new career of solving paranormal mysteries along with their psychic medium friend. Their work goes smoothly until they encounter a powerful witch.

One Day

We all cried watching this one, right? The most romantic drama was dropped right in time for Valentine’s Day in 2024.

An adaption of the book by David Nicholls, One Day, is about a 20-year relationship between Dexter and Emma. Dexter is played by Leo Woodall, and Emma is played by Ambika Mod.

Bridgerton Season 3

Nicola Coughlan has become a skillful actress since her Derry Girls days, which was evident in Bridgerton Season 3. This series follows the lead couple, Penelope Featherington, played by Nicola and Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton).

Supporting characters and their love stories added depth to the series. The friends-to-lovers storyline had everyone giggling and blushing.

Griselda

Netflix’s one of the big hits of 2024, Griselda, follows the life of the savvy and ambitious Columbian businesswoman Griselda Blanco. None other than Sofia Vergara plays the main lead.

Although the plot deviates from the real-life events of Griselda’s story, the themes of greed and a self-destructive nature are perfectly portrayed.

Ripley

Based on The Talented Mr. Ripley books, this Netflix adaptation creates a breathtaking noir world. Tom Ripley, played by Andrew Scott, is a con man lured in by extravagant wealth.

Tom is tasked with the job of bringing a rich son’s man back home. And from there starts the journey of deceit, fraud, and murder.

Terminator Zero

The first anime set in The Terminator universe was praised by critics and viewers alike. Critics praised the series for its ‘stunning animation.

Voiced by Andre Holland in English and  Yūya Uchida in Japanese, the character of Malcolm Lee finds himself in danger as a Terminator pays him a visit. The series follows the format of past Terminator projects and brings it to Tokyo.

The Gentlemen

A star-studded cast that includes Theo James, Kaya Scodelario, Daniel Ings, and Ray Winstone, this 8-episode series is a spin-off of Guy Ritchie’s 2019 film. The story follows Eddie Horniman (James), who inherits his father’s colossal state and finds out that it’s the center of an illegal empire.

Blending comedy, crime drama, and action, we see Eddie as he tries to take control of an illegal operation. The Gentlemen garnered 215.7 million viewing hours in its first two weeks.

Black Doves

Keira Knightley did it once again. Netflix’s confidence in this series is evident, as it was renewed for a second season even before the first aired.

Keira Knightley takes on the role of Helen Webb, an operative of a spies-for-hire organization and the wife of a UK political figure.

A Man On the Inside

This collaboration between Mike Schur and Ted Danson proved to be more than an average hit. The series follows Charles Nieuwendyk, played by Danson, as he navigates through grief and takes on a detective job.

This journey of taking on the role of a spy involved Charles making new friends, memories, and enemies.
