It seems like my cell phone is constantly dinging at me. Whether it’s a text, an email, a Facebook notification, Twitter, a phone call, or a combination of everything going off at once, it seems like my phone never stops notifying me of things going on in my life. Being the busy, famous man Kenny Chesney is, his phone notifications are probably even more crazy than the average person, which is why the recent death of his cell phone was probably a blessing in disguise.

Kenny tells Country Countdown USA’s Lon Helton that after finishing up his Spread The Love Tour back in August, he and his girlfriend headed to Italy for a much-needed vacation. While there, Kenny says he ended up dropping his phone in the ocean. After a bit of a freak out, the singer says he quickly discovered that not having a phone made his trip a whole lot better.

“Since the tour was over, I traveled a little bit. I went to the Islands, and my girlfriend and I went to Italy. The second day I was there, we were in Venice. I was trying to take a picture of the sunset on the water. It was beautiful. There was moss on the steps, and I slipped and fell into the water. I was at dinner with friends, and I fell into the water, I went completely under water, and I had my phone with me. So I lost my phone. My first reaction was OMG what am I gonna do. But after a day and a half, I felt incredible. I just enjoyed it. I enjoyed my friends and my vacation. I wasn’t looking at my phone every 8 seconds to see if I had a text or an email. If I wasn’t doing that, I would have had dinner completely dry! I literally fell into the water, with my phone, with dinner attire on, whatever that is for me. I dress the same way every day. But I sat through dinner completely wet! Can you imagine?”

A vacation in Italy with no phone interruptions? Sounds like a dream to me. Do you think you could survive a vacation with no phone?
