You’d be forgiven if you assumed Sam Hunt had some awesomely badass songwriting retreat tucked away somewhere extra sexy and relaxing.
I know I figured he did.
Turns out, however, that Sam prefers somewhere a little more, um, cozy to write his hit songs.
The singer chatted with Country Countdown USA’s Lon Helton recently and told him that he’s currently writing songs for his second album. That’s when Hunt revealed that his new favorite place to write is his bathroom.
“I’m in this new place, and there’s a room downstairs that’s perfect for a studio. But I got in there and couldn’t feel the vibe. So one night I was sitting on a bucket in my bathroom, and it just felt right. So I’ve been writing in that bathroom for the past 6 months. I need to be a little uncomfortable to write. It helps me focus. I can do about two or three hours sitting on the bucket. Then I have to put a pillow on the bucket. I did that for about 5 months. I finally broke down and bought a chair. I’m turning my bathroom into a studio slowly but surely.”
Now that’s what I call multitasking.
As for his next album, Sam says he’s planning to take this fall off so that he can put in extra time working on it, although he can’t really tell fans when to expect the finished product.
“I don’t want to rush it, I don’t want to put a deadline on it. I’ll keep rolling until the music is ready to be put out. If it takes 3 years or six months, then I’ll be ready to put it out.”
