Tomorrow is the You Must Love Dogs Fest in Tampa, Florida, and country music superstar Jo Dee Messina is headlining the big event. Before saying “bye bye” to Nashville and heading to Tampa Bay, the multi-platinum artist spoke with Catfish of US 103.5 about the upcoming event and her love for her family’s fur babies.
Though Messina is known for a rant about a hectic life (radio single “A Woman’s Rant” off album Me), she has still found time to give a warm and happy home to dogs throughout her years in the spotlight.
I had six [dogs]. We’re down to two, and they’re all rescues. All my dogs are rescues.
The remaining two dogs include one feisty puppy, who is certainly capable of keeping the already busy mother of two young boys on alert.
He’s super smart. He’s only about a year old, so he’s full of energy. Way too smart! He knows how to open doors, gates, and all that kind of stuff, so he keeps us on our toes.
This weekend, Messina is combining her love for music and animals as she headlines the festival at Raymond James Stadium. A day of fun, sun, and bringing music to a Florida audience – where’s the downside?
Well, I’m psyched. I’m excited to be there. I’m excited to see the sun, actually, see the sun shine *laughs*. You know what? I’m just happy to be making music. We have a blast.
Tickets can still be purchased for tomorrow’s event by visiting the festival’s official website. Proceeds from You Must Love Dogs Fest will benefit the SPCA of Florida.
