Is there anyone out there still hoping the Dixie Chicks will miraculously go back to being the Dixie Chicks and release new music?

If there are still fans out there holding out hope, I think you might want to find a new favorite girl band with attitude to worship because I don't think the Dixie Chicks will ever get back together in a musical way.

Hey, the Pistol Annies are currently badass AND they have a new album coming out (Amazon/iTunes). Feel free to worship them.

Well if you're one of those that still holding onto that last little bit of hope for a Dixie Chicks comeback, you're probably not going to like this.

Natalie Maines currently has a new solo album called "Mother" (iTunes/Amazon) coming out May 7th that just happens to be a rock album. Now Natalie is further dashing the hopes of fans everywhere by basically breaking up with country music.

Like it's not you, it's her type of breaking up. Sorry but Natalie's just not that into you anymore, country music.

"People do look at it as an insult that I say I don't listen to country music, which cracks me up," the 38-year-old singer told Us. "Music is a personal preference. Everyone's free to connect and like whatever they want."

She goes on to say, "I'm kind of enthusiastic right now. I definitely wanted it to be different. Significantly different from the Chicks. Someone might think that I'm just trying to find another genre because I don't have a great relationship with country music right now. But really, that never crossed my mind that people would even think that. To me, this album is who I am."

Not sure why but I get the feeling that Natalie just wishes people would quit asking her about the Dixie Chicks. I'm sure she'll get her wish eventually, especially if she keeps making comments alienating her country fans.
